The Story of Electricity is told by Al-Khalili, a British theoretical physicist, and begins the three part TV program with the â€Å"Spark† or dawn of human knowledge of electricity, showcasing the simple and primitive experiments. Leading next, the second part of the program goes over 18th and 19th centuries and how many scientists and physicists harnessed the power of electricity and magnetism and created practical devices and how these devices complete transformed the way people lived and continues to do so today. In the third episode, Khalili finishes up the story with how what we applied what we have learned in the past 200 years to connect the world with electricity via networks and broadcasting. He explains that our era is defined by electricity, and how our understanding of electricity is proportional to our reliance upon it. The first episode starts us off with Isaac Newton and Francis Hauksbee in the Royal Society and the experiments they created. One of the firs t experiments regarding electricity involved a spinning glass hollow sphere vacuum. In a dark room, as the glass span, Hauksbee placed his hand very near the surface without touching it, and light emitted from inside the glass. This experiment was groundbreaking since it was the first time mankind had seemingly created a power reserved to the All-Mighty.
